WHAT KIND OF LEGAL WORK AM I GOOD AT?
My extensive background in police work and the jails has given me a unique insight into the “System”. I have seen the best and worst of what can happen to you in both Criminal and Family Courts.
Domestic violence, protection orders, drug addiction, alcohol abuse, parental rights and responsibilities, arrest tactics, search warrants, child support, mental illness, Miranda warnings, traffic stops and bail conditions are all words and ideas that go back and forth between the labels of Criminal conduct or Family problems.
I not only understand these ideas as concepts in a law book, I have experienced the meaning of these words in the real world, first hand. No one who has lived with these words has ever felt that their life happens as neatly as the law would suggest that it does or should.
Too often, the System focuses on What happened.
My work is about discovering the Why behind what happened to You and in doing so create the possibility of an outcome for you, that is fair, and puts your life back on track.
WHY AM I GOOD AT IT?
There is no magic to it.
I’m dedicated to doing one thing to the best of my ability.
It should be an obvious professional skill but many people don’t put the effort into it that they should.
It begins when you come in to my office to discuss your problem.
Good listeners gather good information.
Good information reveals the real and sometimes hidden facts in a case.
Good facts become the foundation to a good solution.
I told you it wasn’t magic but that is why we all know how disappointing it is when we discover someone we thought was really listening to us never actually heard us at all.
I promise to do my best to provide you with an opportunity to be heard by someone who is truly interested in hearing and understanding you.
Listening is the key to an effective client attorney relationship.
I have also done groundbreaking work on Medicinal Marijuana Laws and regulations, doing what I can to effectively counsel and defend patients and caregivers so that their right to grow and use their medicine remains lawful and immune from government interference.
DO I HAVE THE EXPERIENCE TO GET THE JOB DONE?
Yes I do.
Now to be fair, the quality of legal services that I will be asked to perform may not be greater than the quality of legal services that may be done by any other lawyer, but I do not know any other lawyers, in Maine, that have a similar resume built on over thirty years of work in the criminal justice system.
You be the judge and ask yourself whose experience would be best at assessing the facts of your case.
